9-11 COMMEMORATION AND REMEMBRANCE EVENT: A TRIBUTE TO AMERICA

On September 11, 2024, the John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68 Leland and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12196 Leland and Auxiliary will lead the community in a significant commemoration. This marks the 23rd anniversary of the tragic terrorist attacks on America, a day that changed the course of history. The attacks, which killed 2,977 people from 90 nations, will be remembered with solemnity and respect: 2,753 people in New York, 184 people at the Pentagon, and 40 people on United Flight 93 in Stonycreek Township, Pennsylvania.

The Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance program will be held in the Blossoms Restaurant Banquet Room from 9 to 11 AM on September 11, 2024 (adjacent to the restaurant at 1800 Tommie Jacobs Drive, Leland). We invite all members of the community to gather in remembrance and honor those killed in the attacks. The event will focus on patriotic themes and Americanism. Bea Frost, Commander, Post 68, and Gerald Decker, Commander, VFW Post 12196, will provide both opening and closing remarks.

Light refreshments will be provided. To help us ensure a well-organized event, please RSVP to Evan Jones, 2nd Vice Commander, Legion Post 68, at [email protected].
