Saturday February 17th, Commander of John E Jacobs American Legion Post 68, Dan Fortini, paid an early morning visit to the weekend campout site of Boy Scout Troop 747 on Village Rd in Leland. He met with Troop Leader Gregg Gennaro and the other scout leaders to talk about future events that the Boy Scouts will be assisting Post 68, such as the Gullah Geechee Heritage Rice Festival and the Damaged Flag Disposal this spring.

While there, Commander Fortini presented Troop 747 with a donation of $100 in support of the Scout Trever Smith’s Eagle Scout Ceremony. To be held on Sunday, February 25th at 3pm at Town Creek Park in Winnabow. Congratulations Trever!

Greg Gennaro, Assistant Scoutmaster Troop 747 – Leland stated, “Thank you again for coming out to visit and for the generous donation, it was great to see you!  We truly appreciate the relationship we’ve built together and all that you do for the Troop, Veterans and to the community.”
